Xeronema callistemon is a flowering plant species endemic to the Poor Knights Islands and Taranga Island in northern New Zealand. It was discovered in 1924 and is known by the common name Poor Knights lily. The species was listed as vulnerable in the 1997 IUCN Red List of Plants but is not currently listed in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as of April 2026.

Description

Xeronema callistemon, described by W.R.B. Oliv. in 1926, belongs to the family Xeronemataceae and is part of the genus Xeronema. It is native to the northern region of New Zealand, specifically the Poor Knights Islands and Taranga Island. The plant is known by the common name Poor Knights lily. It was first discovered in 1924 and has been assessed as vulnerable in the 1997 IUCN Red List of Plants. However, it is no longer listed in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as of April 2026.
