Daphne odora, commonly known as winter daphne, is an evergreen shrub in the Thymelaeaceae family. It is native to South-Central and Southeast China, Taiwan, and Vietnam. The plant is cultivated for its fragrant, pale-pink, tubular flowers with four spreading lobes and its glossy leaves. It occasionally produces red berries following flowering.

Description

Daphne odora, Thunb. is an evergreen shrub in the Thymelaeaceae family. It is native to South-Central and Southeast China, as well as Taiwan and Vietnam. The plant is valued for its pale-pink, tubular flowers with four spreading lobes and its glossy foliage. The flowers are highly fragrant, and the plant may produce red berries after blooming. It was first described in 1784.
