Macrozamia miquelii is a cycad species in the Zamiaceae family, native to Queensland and New South Wales in Australia. It grows in sclerophyll forests with eucalyptus trees on nutrient-poor soils. The plant reaches a height of 1 m and is distinguished by its intermediate-sized cones and lighter green foliage. Its seeds have an orange-red sarcotesta that aids in seed dispersal by attracting fauna. The seeds are edible for humans after proper preparation to remove toxins.

Description

Macrozamia miquelii (F.Muell.) A.DC. is a cycad in the Zamiaceae family, found in Eastern Australia. It is adapted to sclerophyll forest environments, often in association with eucalyptus trees. The plant is characterized by a moderate height, with male and female cones of intermediate size. Its leaves are lighter green compared to other Zamiaceae species. The seeds have an orange-red sarcotesta that encourages animal consumption, facilitating seed dispersal. The seeds can be consumed by humans after detoxification. This species was first described in 1868.
