Stemodia durantifolia, known as whitewoolly twintip, is a flowering plant in the Plantaginaceae family. It is native to the Americas, including Chile, Mexico, Texas, and parts of the United States such as California and Arizona. The plant is typically found in riparian habitats, favoring wet sand and rocky areas. It is a perennial herb with a hairy, glandular stem that can grow between 10–100 cm tall. The plant produces violet flowers in a raceme, with each flower enclosed in a calyx of hairy, pointed sepals. It is known to bloom year-round.

Description

Stemodia durantifolia is distributed across several regions in South and Central America, as well as parts of the United States and the Caribbean. Its leaves are toothed and lance-shaped, appearing in pairs or triplets with clasping bases. The species is considered globally at low risk of extinction but is imperiled in California due to its rarity and threats from development. The name is validated by a reference to the description of 'Phaelypea I' in Browne's Civ. Nat. Hist. Jamaica (1756). The species was published in 1791.
