Carpodetus serratus, known as white mapau, is a tree in the Rousseaceae family. It is native to New Zealand, found on the North, South, and Stewart Islands. The species typically grows along riverbanks and forest edges, reaching up to 10 metres tall. It is monoecious and exhibits a divaricating shrub form in its youth with zig-zag branchlets.

Description

Carpodetus serratus, also called marbleleaf and putaputawētā, is a member of the Rousseaceae family. Endemic to New Zealand, it is distributed across the North, South, and Stewart Islands. This tree is commonly found in riparian zones and at the edges of forests. It can grow up to 10 metres in height and is monoecious. In its juvenile stage, it appears as a divaricating shrub with branchlets arranged in a zig-zag pattern.
