Pycnanthemum albescens is a member of the Lamiaceae family, a group of flowering plants commonly referred to as the mint family. It is distributed across several states in the southeastern and central regions of the United States. The species is found in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. The plant was formally described in 1842 by Torr. & A.Gray. Its common name, white-leaf mountain-mint, refers to the plant's characteristic foliage and habitat.
