Actinidia eriantha, known as velvetvine, is a climbing shrub in the Actinidiaceae family. It is native to South-Central and Southeast China, growing in low mountain forests and grassy thickets between 200 and 1,000 m elevation. The plant fruits in November, a timing that has limited its potential as a commercial crop.

Description

Actinidia eriantha Benth. is a species of flowering plant in the genus Actinidia, part of the Actinidiaceae family. This large climbing shrub is indigenous to southern China, where it thrives in low mountain forests and grassy thickets. It produces fruit in November, a seasonally late yield that has hindered its cultivation for commercial purposes. The species was first described in 1860.
