Vateria copallifera is a tree species in the Dipterocarpaceae family, native to southern India and Sri Lanka. It is found in the lowland evergreen rain forests of southwestern Sri Lanka, particularly along river banks and rivulets.

Description

Vateria copallifera (Retz.) Alston is a member of the Dipterocarpaceae family, a group of tropical trees. This species is native to Tamil Nadu in southern India and Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka, it is commonly found in the lowland evergreen rain forests of the southwest, where it grows along river banks and small streams. The species was first described in 1931. It is part of the genus Vateria, which includes several other tree species in the region.
