Description
Collomia heterophylla is found in open habitats, including gravelly mountain slopes, across western North America. It is an annual herb with an erect, hairy stem and variable leaf morphology. Lower leaves are typically toothed and lobed, while upper leaves may be unlobed. The inflorescence consists of clusters of flowers at the stem apex or in leaf axils. Each flower has a tubular base and a star-shaped, five-lobed corolla. Corolla lobes are lanceolate, with colors varying from white to deep pink, and white at the base. The species was first described in 1829 by Hooker.
