Ulmus uyematsui Hayata

Ulmus uyematsui Hayata, known as the Alishan elm, is a tree species endemic to Alishan in central Taiwan. It grows in forested areas at elevations between 800 and 2,500 metres. The species was first described in 1913 by the Japanese botanist Bunzō Hayata.
Description
Ulmus uyematsui is a member of the Ulmaceae family and is native to the forests of Alishan in Chiayi County, Taiwan. It occurs at elevations ranging from 800 to 2,500 metres and is considered a minor tree species in the region. The species was named and described by Bunzō Hayata in 1913, following the cession of the Republic of Formosa to Japan after the First Sino-Japanese War.
