Ulmus mexicana, the Mexican elm, is a large tree native to Mexico and Central America. It grows in cloud forests and high-elevation tropical rainforests with annual precipitation of 2–4 meters. Its range extends from San Luis Potosi in Mexico south to Chiapas, and further into Guatemala and Panama. The species was first described in 1873.

Description

Ulmus mexicana belongs to the Ulmaceae family and is found in regions with high rainfall. It is a native species of Mexico and Central America, occurring in cloud forest and tropical rainforest habitats at higher elevations. The tree is distributed from central to southern Mexico and extends southward through Central America. The scientific name was first published in 1873.
