Tulipa dasystemon (Regel) Regel is a bulbous herbaceous perennial in the Liliaceae family, native to mountainous regions of Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Xinjiang. It blooms from May to July and fruits from July to August, typically in fine earth, gravelly, or stony slopes at elevations of 1500–3500 m. The species has a solitary, bright yellow flower with distinct outer and inner perigone segments and is characterized by its long, narrow style. The species name 'dasystemon' refers to 'hairy stamen,' and the plant was originally classified in the section Orithyia by Regel in 1879.

Description

Tulipa dasystemon has an ovoid bulb (1.0–1.5 cm thick), with a light- to brown, papery tunic. The stem is 10–20 cm long, glabrous, with two upright, linear leaves. The solitary flower is a wide yellow star, with lanceolate outer perigone segments that are violet-tinged and glabrous, and inner segments that are bearded and ciliate at the base. Stamens are half the length of the perigone, with yellow or orange filaments and yellow anthers. The ovary is slightly shorter than the stamens, with a long style. The capsule is obovoid, 1.5–2.5 cm long, with a 5 mm beak. It is found in the Tian-Shan and Pamir-Alay regions and is also known as T. neustruevae.
