Description

Tulipa cretica, known as the Cretan tulip, is a species of flowering plant in the Liliaceae family. It is endemic to the island of Crete and grows in rocky habitats, including noncoastal cliffs and mountainous areas. The plant reaches a height of 25 cm and produces white flowers that gradually fade to pink. Several cultivars have been developed, including 'Dikti', 'Archanes', and 'Chania'. 'Hilde' is a cultivar available through commercial suppliers. The species was first described in 1854 by Boiss. & Heldr.
