Trithuria australis is an aquatic plant in the family Hydatellaceae, found only in Western Australia. It was formally described in 2008.

Description

Trithuria australis belongs to the genus Trithuria and is part of the Hydatellaceae family, a group of small aquatic flowering plants. This species is native to Western Australia and is not found anywhere else in the world. The plant was scientifically described in 2008 by D.D. Sokoloff, N.A. Remizowa, T.D. Macfarlane, and P. Rudall, following earlier work by Diels. Its aquatic habitat and restricted geographic range make it a notable example of a species with limited distribution. The Hydatellaceae family is considered one of the most ancient lineages of flowering plants and is primarily found in the Southern Hemisphere.
