Trichomanes lucens is a member of the fern family Hymenophyllaceae and is found in a wide range of locations, including parts of Colombia such as Antioquia, Boyacá, and Cauca, as well as in Bolivia, Brazil Southeast, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Jamaica, Leeward Is., Mexico Southwest, Panamá, Peru, and Venezuela. The species has been recorded in specific areas like Parque Nacional Natural Las Orquídeas, El Parque Nacional Natural Tatamá, Floridablanca, and others. The species was first published in 1788 under the authorship of Sw.
