Stylosanthes humilis, known as Townsville stylo, is a flowering plant in the Fabaceae family, native to the New World Tropics. It is cultivated as a forage in tropical regions of Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Malesia, and Australia. In the 1970s, an outbreak of the fungus Colletotrichum gloeosporioides significantly impacted its population in Australia.

Description

Stylosanthes humilis is a species of the genus Stylosanthes in the Fabaceae family. It is native to the New World Tropics and has been introduced as a forage plant in tropical areas of Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Malesia, and Australia. It is valued for its nutritional properties. However, in the 1970s, an outbreak of the fungus Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, which causes anthracnose disease, nearly eradicated the plant in Australia. The species is distributed across various regions, including Brazil, Central America, and parts of Asia.
