It is native to regions including Fiji, Maluku, New Caledonia, New South Wales, Norfolk Island, Queensland, Samoa, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu. This plant typically grows under waterfalls, in sandstone gullies, or in rainforests. It is often found on the base of the King Fern and may grow as an epiphyte, lithophyte, or terrestrial plant. It is found as far south as Mount Dromedary.
