Tmesipteris elongata is a fern species in the Psilotaceae family, native to southeastern Australia and New Zealand. It was first described by Pierre Augustin Dangeard in 1891. The species is commonly found growing on soft tree ferns in moist valleys. In Victoria, it is classified as critically endangered.

Description

Tmesipteris elongata belongs to the genus Tmesipteris and is part of the Psilotaceae family. Its distribution includes the Chatham Islands, New Zealand North, New Zealand South, Tasmania, and Victoria. This fern thrives in moist environments and is often observed growing on soft tree ferns. The species was first formally described in 1891 by Pierre Augustin Dangeard. Due to its limited range and habitat-specific requirements, Tmesipteris elongata is listed as critically endangered in Victoria, Australia.
