Tilia maximowicziana is a species in the genus Tilia, belonging to the Malvaceae family. It is native to central and northern Japan and Kunashir Island, part of the southern Kuril Islands. This tree is a dominant canopy species in the mountain forests of Hokkaido and northern Honshu. Though considered a handsome tree, it is rarely cultivated outside its native range but can be obtained from commercial suppliers.

Description

Tilia maximowicziana is a member of the Malvaceae family and is found in central and northern Japan as well as on Kunashir Island in the southern Kuril Islands. It plays a significant role in the mountain forests of Hokkaido and northern Honshu, often forming part of the dominant canopy. While it is not widely planted beyond its native region, it is commercially available for cultivation.
