Wikstroemia indica (L.) C.A.Mey. is a small shrub in the Thymelaeaceae family, commonly known as tiebush. It is native to regions including China South-Central, China Southeast, India, Australia, and the Philippines. The plant features glossy leaves, small greenish-yellow flowers, and toxic red fruits. It typically grows in forested areas and on rocky, shrubby slopes.

Description

Wikstroemia indica is a member of the genus Wikstroemia and is distributed across several regions, including TW, SC, Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, Hainan, Jawa, Maluku, Mauritius, Myanmar, New Caledonia, New Guinea, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Philippines, and Queensland. It was first published in 1843. The species is known for its toxic red fruits and has been associated with a complex taxonomic history. Previously linked to the rejected name Capura Linnaeus, it is now recognized under the genus Wikstroemia. Taxonomic clarification was provided by Rogers & Spencer in 2006, who noted the challenges in typifying this name.
