Thismia neptunis is a species of Thismia in the Burmanniaceae family, found only in Borneo. It was first discovered in 1866 by Odoardo Beccari and formally described in 1878. The species was not seen again until 2017, when it was documented in the Gunung Matang massif in western Sarawak, part of Malaysia on Borneo.

Description

Thismia neptunis belongs to the Burmanniaceae family and is native to Borneo. The species was first collected in 1866 by the Italian botanist Odoardo Beccari and was scientifically described in 1878. No further records of the species were made until 2017, when it was rediscovered in the Gunung Matang massif in western Sarawak, located in the Malaysian portion of Borneo. The rediscovery was made by a team of Czech biologists who photographed the plant, marking the first confirmed sighting since its initial description.
