Iresine leptoclada is a species in the genus Iresine, family Amaranthaceae, native to Mexico Northeast and Texas. It was first described in 1986 by (Hook.f.) Henrickson & S.D.Sundb. The common name for this species is Texas shrub. Its taxonomic status remains partially unresolved, as species limits have not yet been studied in detail.

Description

Iresine leptoclada belongs to the Caryophyllales order and is part of the Amaranthaceae family, which is commonly known as the amaranth family. The species is found in the regions of Mexico Northeast and Texas. The genus Iresine has been shown to be monophyletic based on pollen characters and DNA sequence data, which has helped clarify some aspects of its species diversity. However, the precise delimitation of Iresine leptoclada and its relationship to other species within the genus remain to be fully investigated.
