Tasmannia piperita is a shrub or small tree in the family Winteraceae, native to Borneo, the Philippines, Sulawesi, the Maluku Islands, the Lesser Sunda Islands, New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. It is the only Tasmannia species found outside of Australia and the most widespread in the genus.

Description

Tasmannia piperita, described in 1858 by Miers, is a member of the Winteraceae family. It is found in several regions of Southeast Asia and the Pacific, including Borneo, the Philippines, Sulawesi, the Maluku Islands, the Lesser Sunda Islands, New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. This species is unique within the genus Tasmannia for its distribution outside of Australia. It is the most geographically widespread species of the genus.
