Tamarix usneoides, known as wild tamarisk, is a shrub or small evergreen tree found in saline habitats, semi-deserts, and karroid areas of southern Africa, from Angola through Namibia to South Africa. It has a short trunk, thin branches, scale-like leaves, and creamy-white flowers.

Description

Tamarix usneoides, described in 1852 by E.Mey. ex Bunge, is a member of the Tamaricaceae family. It is native to regions including South Africa's Camdeboo National Park and Mountain Zebra National Park. This plant is characterized by its twiggy growth form, with thin branches typically emerging from ground level. Its foliage consists of small, scale-like leaves, and it produces spikes of creamy-white flowers. It thrives in saline and arid environments.
