Dendrocalamus hamiltonii is a bamboo species in the Poaceae family, known as tama bamboo. It grows up to 15–18 m tall with culms 12–15 cm in diameter. It is native to Assam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China South-Central, East Himalaya, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Description

Dendrocalamus hamiltonii, also called Hamilton's bamboo, is a member of the genus Dendrocalamus in the grass family Poaceae. This species is characterized by its tall, robust culms that reach heights of 15–18 m and diameters of 12–15 cm. It is distributed across several regions in South and Southeast Asia, including Assam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China South-Central, East Himalaya, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. The species was first described in 1868 by Nees & Arn. ex Munro.
