Gastrodia elata, a mycoheterotrophic perennial herb in the Orchidaceae family, is native to regions including Nepal, Bhutan, India, Japan, Korea, Siberia, Taiwan, and China. It was first described in 1856 by Blume.

Description

Gastrodia elata is a member of the Orchidaceae family and is known as Tall Gastrodia. It is distributed across TW, Global, Assam, China North-Central, China South-Central, China Southeast, East Himalaya, Inner Mongolia, Japan, Khabarovsk, Korea, Kuril Is., Manchuria, Nepal, Primorye, Sakhalin, Taiwan, and Tibet. This species is mycoheterotrophic, relying on fungal associations for nutrition. It is found in various parts of Asia, including the Himalayan region and East Asia.
