Description
Synsepalum brevipes belongs to the genus Synsepalum and is part of the Sapotaceae family, commonly known as the sapodilla family. The species is distributed across a wide range of African countries, including Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Senegal. The species was first described in 1991 by T.D. Pennington, based on earlier work by Baker. It is a native of the African tropics and subtropics, where it grows as a shrub or tree.
