Mitreola sessilifolia, known as swamp hornpod, is a small flowering plant in the Loganiaceae family. Native to the southeastern United States, it is also found as far west as Arizona. The plant is classified as a facultative wetland species (FACW), often used as an indicator for wetlands, though it can also occur in non-wetland areas. It was previously placed in the genus Cynoctonum.

The species was first published in 1837. It is classified as a FACW (facultative wetland) species, indicating a preference for wetland habitats but also the ability to grow in non-wetland conditions. Previously, it was included in the genus Cynoctonum before being reclassified under Mitreola.
