Description

Stryphnodendron rotundifolium is a tree (0.5 – 9 m tall) in the Fabaceae family, with compound leaves that have (5 – 15) pairs of pinnae and (4 – 14) pairs of leaflets. Leaflets are orbicular, ovate, or elliptic, and the lower surface has a unilateral tuft of trichomes. The inflorescences are thyrsi with white to yellowish or occasionally lilac to purplish flowers. The fruit is a nucoid legume, usually straight, with coriaceous to woody valves and slightly prominent seeds. It is found in Brazil and Paraguay.
