Polypogon elongatus, known as streambank rabbitsfoot grass, is a perennial grass in the family Poaceae. It is native to regions including the U.S. states of Colorado, Arizona, and Texas, Mexico, Central America, and most of South America, excluding the Amazon and adjacent tropical zones. This species typically grows in damp stream bank habitats and can reach a height of 90 cm.
Description
Polypogon elongatus is a member of the grass family (Poaceae) and is commonly found in moist environments, particularly on stream banks. Its native range includes parts of the United States, Mexico, Central America, and much of South America. The plant is a perennial and can grow up to 90 cm in height. It is known by the common name streambank rabbitsfoot grass and was first described in 1816 by Kunth.
