Stemonoporus gardneri is a tree species in the Dipterocarpaceae family, native to southwestern Sri Lanka. It is found on the southern and eastern slopes of Adam's Peak and in the upper elevations of the Sinharaja Forest Reserve. This species is endemic to the region and is a dominant tree in hill rain forests, occasionally extending into montane rain forests.

Description

Stemonoporus gardneri, described by Thwaites in 1854, belongs to the Dipterocarpaceae family. It is a tree species native to Sri Lanka, specifically the southwestern part of the island. The species is found on the southern and eastern slopes of Adam's Peak and in the Sinharaja Forest Reserve. It thrives in hill rain forest ecosystems and can sometimes be found in montane rain forest habitats. As an endemic species, it plays a significant ecological role in its native environment.
