Stemonoporus cordifolius belongs to the genus Stemonoporus and is part of the Dipterocarpaceae family. It is a tree species endemic to the southwestern region of Sri Lanka, with a restricted distribution to the southern slopes of Adam's Peak. This species is typically found in the understory of evergreen montane rain forests and is known to occur in clusters. The scientific name was published in 1931 by Alston, with the original description based on work by Thwaites.
