Micranthes stellaris, known as starry saxifrage, is a species in the Saxifragaceae family. It features panicles of 5–10 white flowers on a stem up to 20 cm tall, emerging from a basal leaf rosette. The species is distributed across Greenland, Labrador, Nunavut, Quebec, and other regions in North America and Europe.
Description
Micranthes stellaris, previously classified as Saxifraga stellaris, is an Arctic–alpine plant. It has two subspecies: one found from eastern Canada to Russia and the British Isles, and another in the mountains of southern Europe. The plant produces white flowers in panicles, with a stem height reaching up to 20 cm. It is part of the Saxifragaceae family and was published in 2005 under the authorship of (L.) Galasso, Banfi & Soldano.
