Description
Chrysophyllum cainito (L.) is a member of the Sapotaceae family and is commonly called star apple. It is indigenous to the Isthmus of Panama and has been cultivated in this region. The species has since expanded to the Greater Antilles, the West Indies, and is now grown in tropical climates worldwide, such as in Southeast Asia. The tree is fast-growing and can attain a height of 20 meters. Its distribution includes parts of Colombia, as well as other tropical regions.
