Chiloscyphus polyanthos (L.) Corda, known as Square-Leaved Crestwort, is a species in the family Lophocoleaceae. It was published in 1829 and is distributed across several regions, including islands in the Azores, parts of Europe, and the United States.

Description

Chiloscyphus polyanthos is found on multiple islands, including Corvo, Faial, Pico, Santa Maria, São Jorge, São Miguel, and Terceira in the Azores, as well as Madeira Island. It also occurs in Flanders, the southeastern United States, Vermont, northern Europe, and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, with presence in both the Walloon and Flemish Regions of Belgium. The species was originally described by Linnaeus and later reclassified by Corda. A note from a botanical discussion clarifies that a specimen designated as lectotype by Grolle in 1970 is not original material studied by Linnaeus.
