The species was published in 1763 by L. and belongs to the genus Lamium. It is not considered a new combination, despite some earlier misinterpretations.

The scientific name was published in 1763 by L. and is part of the genus Lamium. Although there was a misinterpretation regarding its taxonomic status, the typification remains valid.
