Sphaeradenia laucheana is a species in the genus Sphaeradenia, belonging to the family Cyclanthaceae. It was described by Harling in 1954, based on earlier work by Mast. This plant is native to several regions in Colombia, including SFF Iguaque, Floridablanca, Piedecuesta, Vetas, Arcabuco, and the departments of Antioquia, Boyacá, Caldas, Cauca, Cundinamarca, Huila, Quindío, Risaralda, and Santander. Its range also extends to Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.

Description

Sphaeradenia laucheana is a member of the Cyclanthaceae family, a group of flowering plants primarily found in tropical regions of the Americas. The species is distributed across multiple Colombian regions and extends into neighboring countries in South and Central America. Its presence in diverse locations such as SFF Iguaque and Vetas suggests an adaptation to a range of ecological conditions within the Andean and adjacent tropical zones. The taxonomic classification of this species was established in 1954 by Harling, building upon the earlier work of Mast. The genus Sphaeradenia includes several species characterized by their unique morphological traits typical of the Cyclanthaceae family.
