Sorbus insignis

Sorbus insignis is a species of rowan in the Rosaceae family, native to regions including Assam, East Himalaya, Nepal, and Tibet. It is a tree reaching 10–15 m in height, though it may occasionally grow as a shrub. The species was published in 1901.
Description
Sorbus insignis is characterized by greyish-brown stems and grey bark. Young branchlets are rusty brown and tomentose, becoming glabrous with age. Winter buds are narrowly ovoid, 1.0–1.8 cm long. Leaves are pinnately compound, 15–20 cm long, with 7–16 leaflets that are oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 5–8 x 1.5–2.0 cm. Inflorescences are compound corymbs with 30–80 flowers, 6–8 mm in diameter. Flowers have creamy white petals and 20 stamens. Fruits are pomes, 5–8 mm in diameter, turning white or crimson when mature. Seeds are brownish and reniform, 1.5–2.0 mm in size.
