Nemophila aphylla (L.) Brummitt, known as smallflower baby blue eyes, is an annual flowering plant in the Hydrophyllaceae family. It is native to the southeastern United States and grows in moist woodlands. The plant produces small white or pale blue flowers, approximately 0.12 inches wide, from March to May.

Description

Nemophila aphylla is found in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. It is an annual species characterized by its small flowers and preference for rich, moist habitats. The species was published in 1972. Taxonomic discussions have clarified the type specimen for Nemophila aphylla, with a neotype designated in 1993 to resolve nomenclatural conflicts.
