Hypoxis argentea is a species in the genus Hypoxis, which is part of the Hypoxidaceae family. It is native to several regions in southern Africa, including the Cape Provinces, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Lesotho, Northern Provinces, and Swaziland. This plant is known by the common name small yellow star-flower in English. Its scientific name was published in 1878 and is attributed to Harv. ex Baker.
