Elatine minima (Nutt.) Fisch. & C.A.Mey., known as Small Waterwort, is a species in the Elatinaceae family. It is native to parts of Canada and the United States, including Labrador, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and regions in the north-central, northeastern, and southeastern U.S. The species was first described in 1817 as Crypta minima and later reclassified into the genus Elatine in 1836.
Description
Elatine minima is a flowering plant found in various regions of North America, including Labrador, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and the U.S. states of Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Minnesota. It is also present in Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados and Saint Pierre and Miquelon. The plant was first described in 1817 as Crypta minima and was later transferred to the genus Elatine in 1836.
