Nuphar microphylla, known as Small Pond-Lily, is a perennial, rhizomatous aquatic herb in the Nymphaeaceae family. It is native to parts of Canada and the northeastern and central United States. The species was first described in 1917 by Fernald.
Description
Nuphar microphylla is an aquatic plant that grows in freshwater habitats. It is found in regions such as Labrador, Manitoba, New Brunswick, and several U.S. states including Vermont, Connecticut, and Maine. The species is listed as a special concern in Connecticut and is believed to be extirpated there. Its distribution spans the Nearctic region, with records from both sides of the Canada-U.S. border. This species is part of the genus Nuphar, which includes other pond-lilies.
