Helianthus gracilentus A.Gray is a species of the genus Helianthus in the family Asteraceae, commonly known as the slender sunflower. It is native to central and southern California and Baja California, where it grows in dry chaparral and woodland ecosystems.
Description
This sunflower species is adapted to the dry, wildfire-prone chaparral and woodland habitats of central and southern California as well as Baja California. It was first described in 1876 by Asa Gray. The plant is part of the Asteraceae family, which includes a wide range of flowering plants commonly known as the daisy or sunflower family.
