slender silver moss
Anomobryum julaceum (Schrad. ex G.Gaertn., B.Mey. & Scherb.) Schimp.
Anomobryum julaceum, known as slender silver moss, is a bryophyte species found in temperate regions across all continents except South America and Antarctica. It thrives in wet crevices, sandstone cliffs, granitic outcrops, and seepy habitats, particularly in acid environments in eastern North America. The species is notable for its shiny, julaceous leaves, which distinguish it from similar genera like Pohlia and Bryum. Capsules mature from late fall through spring. It was first described in 1860.
