Aira cupaniana is an annual herb in the Poaceae family, commonly known as Silver hairgrass. It has a self-supporting growth form and simple, broad leaves, reaching up to 13 cm in height. The species was first described in 1843 by Guss.

Description

Aira cupaniana is native to a wide range of regions, including Portugal Continental, the conterminous 48 United States, Algeria, the Baleares, the Canary Islands, the Cape Provinces, Corse, the East Aegean Islands, France, the Free State, Greece, Italy, Kriti, KwaZulu-Natal, Lesotho, and others. It is an annual grass species characterized by its simple, broad leaves and compact growth habit. This species is part of the Poaceae (True grasses) family and is commonly referred to as Silver hairgrass in English.
