Calochortus nuttallii, known as the sego lily, is a bulbous perennial native to the western United States. It is the state flower of Utah.

Description

Calochortus nuttallii (Torr.) is a member of the Liliaceae family and is commonly referred to as the sego lily. The name 'sego' is derived from a Shoshone term. This species is found in several western U.S. states, including Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. It was first described in 1852 and holds the distinction of being the state flower of Utah.
