Secale sylvestre is a species in the genus Secale, belonging to the family Poaceae. It was first described in 1809 by the author Host. The species is native to a wide range of regions across Europe and Asia, including Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, China, and several other countries in the Caucasus and Central Asia.

The species was first published in 1809 by Host. As a member of the Poaceae family, it is part of a large and economically significant group of grasses.
