Scolopia crenata, known as the potato plum of Mysore, is a subcanopy tree native to tropical evergreen and semi-evergreen forests in the Western Ghats and Indo-Malaysia, growing up to 1800 m in elevation.

Description

Scolopia crenata (Wight & Arn.) Clos is a member of the Salicaceae family and is found in the regions of India and Sri Lanka. It is a subcanopy tree species that thrives in tropical evergreen to semi-evergreen forest ecosystems. This species is part of the genus Scolopia and was first described in 1857.
