Pinus tecunumanii is a timber tree native to Mexico and Central America, occurring in two distinct altitude groups within its native range. The high-altitude group grows between 1500–2900 m, while the low-altitude group is found between 500–1500 m. It is distributed across Chiapas and Oaxaca in Mexico, as well as in Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

Description

Pinus tecunumanii belongs to the family Pinaceae and is known by the common name Schwerdtfeger's Pine. It was first described in 1983 by F.Schwerdtf. ex Eguiluz & J.P.Perry. The species is found in two separated populations within its native habitats. Its range extends from the highlands of southern Mexico through Central America, covering regions in both high and low altitude zones.
