Schoenocephalium teretifolium is a monocot species in the Rapateaceae family, native to the Guainía region in northeastern Amazonia, Colombia, and parts of Venezuela. It is found in the area between the Guainia and Inírida rivers, where it is endemic.

Description

Schoenocephalium teretifolium, described by Maguire in 1958, is a member of the genus Schoenocephalium within the Rapateaceae family. Its distribution is restricted to the Guainía department in Colombia, particularly in the municipality of Inírida, as well as adjacent regions in Venezuela. This species is one of several plants in the Rapateaceae family that are endemic to the area, including Guacamaya superba. The plant is known locally as the Summertime Inírida flower and is part of the unique flora of the northeastern Amazonian region.
